Mechanical & Structural Design
Weir S&H Consultancy capitalises on the main strength of the company; Mechanical System Design and Manufacture.
Design and Manufacture experience includes; Large moving structures, Small complex interlocked mechanisms, High-Integrity
handling systems and Bracketry for aircraft.
Weir S&H is in a position to offer these design skills to customers and can apply them at any point in the
design lifecycle from concept through to in-service support.
Systems Engineering
Weir S&H works using a systems-engineering approach, based on the V-Model principles first derived in the
software industry. Firstly requirements for any task are defined. This includes the definition of how the task will be accepted
as complete. The task is then carried out with the engineer knowing all the requirements of the task along with the acceptance
criteria. Upon completion of the task, acceptance is carried out against the acceptance criteria already defined.
This approach is carried out on all tasks, from the design and manufacture of a submarine weapon-handling system
to the checking of a hand calculation.
Design for Manufacture / Assembly
Building upon Weir S&H’s ability to both design and manufacture equipment, the Consultancy team can offer
extensive Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering advice including; Part count reduction, Simplified Manufacturing techniques
and Material selection.
